It’s been about 5 years since I’ve had LASIK. A few years ago, I went to get my eyes checked and I had 20/10 vision. Well, I went again and last week and I know for sure my far-sighted vision (meaning i can’t read close things) has gotten worse since LASIK (but the doctor warned me of that, so no surprise.) Anyway, I had a new helper help me and we were going over my vision test. I passed my 20/20 test and I wanted to go further, but she was confused and decided to test my other eye. I told her, “Can we see if I am better than 20/20?” Mildly shocked, she goes, “oooh okay sure…” Anyway, I easily passed the 20/15 test. Then when she put on the 20/10 test, one eye could only get about 3/6 right and the other eye got about the same number right. Well, since all I needed was 50% to pass, I’m still considered having 20/10 vision. Even the optometrist was a bit shocked and was telling everyone of my 20/10 vision. Even though I’ve always been an overachiever in life, I really couldn’t take any credit for this, but you know I’m gonna be braggadocious about this.
However, once we got to the far-sighted test, I mentioned to the optometrist that it has gotten progressively worse since LASIK [coupled with old age,] and he sort of confirmed it. He mentioned I said get some reading glasses from the grocery store to help me read close things (like the IMEI on the back of a phone.)
Anyway, if you’re around the age of 25 (which I guess is when your eye levels out,) then I still highly recommend LASIK. That’s the lesson learned about of all this… well besides to not grow old.
