A reader got shut down on his Synchrony Amazon card. He’s not the only one; I had heard a few other people got the axe too a few weeks back. In his words:
“My Synchrony Amazon just got axed too! Opened less than 2 months ago with 5.6k CL, Spent about 10k on 1st statement, and I was on mid of second statement cycle and had spent about 12k so far including prime day orders without any BBY gift card. I never had a negative balance.”
I believe the other ppl got axed too for cycling. The odd thing is that they are fine with cycling the Rakuten card (or at least WERE fine with cycling back during the last promo.) So we’re not sure if Synchrony has tightened up on all cards or maybe just the Amazon card or it could be just going too fast too furious with a new card. Regardless if you have or plan on getting this card, stick to under your CL in the meantime.
Just happened to me – didn’t notice until I logged in and noticed after I had a few returns I had a negative balance. No biggie I thought. I cycled maybe 1.5x which I think triggered it.
Any negative affects on credit reports other than that? Anyone get it re-instated?

This happened to me also with Pandora they started with a 1000.00 cl and they reduced it to 250 this account was paid off at the time they did this and they did the same for JC Penny and Macy’s all had a zero balance
Same here. CLOSED a bunch of my accounts without prior notification, some were paid in full. They cut my TJX card from $500 to $180. This is ridiculous. Apparently they say they periodically check your credit report, but they lie. They check it incessantly n drop a point and you are no good to them. Such a POOR way to run a business esp with what is going on in the world. Don’t deal with them … They will screw you BIG TIME.
I cancelled every card I had thru synchrony bank. they play too many games. Glad walmart got rid of them. I hope some other retailers wake up and axe them also.

Horrible….all due to the Pandemic….They are Not a respectable company….in a Pandemic…they do this…to consumers , who pay on time 🤨. I asked them and they made up some nonsense.
Synchrony is jorrible! They have axed all of my cards with them for no reason! I had a lowes card cl of 5k never late with payments and never maxed out one day I got a notice they canceled my card and said I had to pay in full the following month. I had a rooms to go card cl 7k we had it paid off for about two months and received noticed it was being canceled, care credit cl 6k no balance canceled and lastly my amazon prime had a $8k cl and they cut it down to $100.
They cancelled my care credit card. I had never had a late payment and had paid this card off and was keeping it for dental expenses. They are the lowest of low. Very arrogant. Meier switched carriers from sybnchrony to Citibank. I hope everyone switches from them and puts them out of business.
Did me the same way had Abt card with 4k on it. Spent about 1,700 paid it off be fore promotion day end. Which is 12 month same as cash.I paid it of in 2 month. They cut 2 hundred dollars. That fucked up. I never missed a pay ment. That’s why they lost the account with Wal-Mart’s.
Sorry but they cut my card down to 2 hundred dollar’s My ABT card that is it was 4k .
They axed mine on the 14th also, had a 10k cl, got the card over a year ago and had been cycling the cl a ton the entire time, never leaving a balance there for more than a few days. Just a few weeks prior they raised my cl from 5k to 10k. Now there’s a rewards balance of over 2k which they are refusing to pay out, I filed a cfpb complaint and we’ll see what happens.
That is exactly the same as what happened to me. I filed the complaint, then someone called me to let me know that someone is looking into my case, but I don’t know whether or not they are going to pay the rewards back to me.
