Gamestop has a $15 annual membership to their PRO Power Up Rewards. With this, you earn 20 points per dollar spent, which is great if you resell a lot of stuff. Even if you don’t and you have a Nintendo Switch (or possibly other consoles,) you’ll want to join anyway.
The reason for that is each month you get a $5 certificate. You can then go in store and buy a $5 Nintendo eshop card and redeem the $5 certificate to go against it, so you’re making about $45 a year in Nintendo money. I haven’t tested XBOX or PlayStation cards.
I was speaking to my local store manager and he says that signups for PRO memberships is one of their top metrics that they have to hit, so when you sign up, they’ll love you for it. Hell, get multiples.
And put down your pitchforks. They started this $5 thing earlier this year and if they wanted to NOT allow this, they would have programmed it from the beginning. I asked the manager why they would give away “free” money like this, and while he’s not sure, he did say that you do have to go in store to redeem the $5, so I’m sure corporate figured it’s worth paying someone $5 to go in store, in hopes they’ll buy other stuff in store. Win-win for everyone.
don’t see any pitchforks lol
Just joined for $15! Thank you for the post
The discount also works on Steam cards. But the smallest denomination you can get is $20.
Hey Vinh,
My local GameStop wasn’t able my $5 welcome cert on a $10 eshop gift card (they didn’t have any $5 ones ugh). The associate wasn’t able to find the root of the problem – do you know if this stopped working for eshop credits or if it’s the particular store?
It works. I just did it yesterday. You have to tell them to get you the EGC for $5. The PGCs either don’t work or is minimum $10. Receipt shows code 143483 053/00 if that helps.
Thanks, I’ll try again… ask if they can generate the $5 one and then try applying the $5 welcome cert. Hoping it was just a glitch yesterday and my local store doesn’t have something in their system that restricts specific purchases with the cert..
