I’ve been working from home lately and catching up on random movies and TV shows. Also, if you’re bored, feel free to catch up on my former blog aka http://moviesthatmademesleep.blogspot.com/ (someone shoulda told me about the cc game instead of movies back in 2008.) Anyhow, here are some movies and shows that I’ve watched lately that I’d recommend:
Movies
Star Wars Rise of Skywalker – You’re pot committed if you’ve seen the rest.
1917 – TBD
Just Mercy – TBD
Jumanji 2 – If you liked the first one, you’ll like this one even more. Usually sequels suck, but this one was good.
Hobbs & Shaw – Watched it at theater. Wasn’t bad. Wasn’t good. Exactly what you expect.
Dark Waters – a coworker recommended this movie. If you liked Erin Brockovich, then you’ll like this one. I enjoyed it and stayed awake the whole time!
Knives Out – It was OKAY. There was too much hype around it.
Midway – Like a poor man’s “Pearl Harbor.” Movie was too confusing; maybe I have ADD, but if a movie says ‘April 2008’ and then 15 minutes later, it’s supposed to have progressed and now says “May 2010,” I have already forgotten the last segment was April 2008 and have no clue how much time was supposed to have progressed. This was the fault of this movie (but that’s just me and hopefully some of you too.)
Ford vs Ferrari – Surprisingly very good. I thought it’d be crap, but I was very pleasantly surprised.
Jojo Rabbit – I definitely fell asleep during this movie. Maybe it was just too ‘quirky’ for my tastes. Definitely a ‘watch on a plane’ movie.
Maleficent Mistress of Evil – I enjoyed the first one, but this one knocked me out 30 minutes in and by the time I woke up, I didn’t care to rewind.
Rocketman – Knocked out in 15 minutes and never bothered to continue watching
Parasite – Don’t get me wrong. I enjoyed the movie, but felt it was WAY OVERHYPED (probably by people who have never seen a Korean drama before.)
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood – I did fall asleep 2 times, but I kept trying to plow through it. I’ve seen every Tarantino movie and this one just didn’t do it for me.
Joker – Worth the hype.
Dark Phoenix – Knocked out 15 minutes in and gave up.
Angel Has Fallen – The first one wasn’t bad, but this one is stuck at the 15 min mark, which is when I fell asleep.
Netflix
- “Dirty Money” – one of the best documentary series on Netflix. Watch all the episodes!
- “Love is Blind” – It’s so ridiculous but yet so good. Get through the first 2 episodes and you’ll easily plow through the rest
- “100 Humans” – Good ‘background’ TV show
- “Ugly Delicious” – Only watch the “Steak” one
- “Trials of Gabriel Fernandez” – I’m getting kind of worn out with these murder dramas/documentaries, but this one was okay
- “To all the boys 2” – Enjoyed the first one. Fell asleep 15 min in and gave up
- Stranger Things 3 – Feels like I’m wading through mud trying to watch this 3rd season. I’m on episode 3 and think I’m done with it.
HBO
- Watch the 1st season of Succession. This 2nd season is hard to watch (someone lmk if it’s worth finishing; think I stopped around ep 3
- “McMillions” – Pretty interesting watch
- “Westworld 3” – I never even started season 2 – tell me if it’s good enough for me to plow through
- “Watchmen” – I feel I need to watch this?
MISC
- “90 Day Fiance” – Don’t judge me! This is THE BEST background noise TV show. Great for when you’re processing gift cards and want a mind numbing show in the background
- “Love After Lockup” – When you want more drama and fighting than Fiance
