Fedex 2-Day rates on Ebay is as cheap or cheaper than USPS Priority mail now

For some reason, this was kind of hush hush because no one reads Ebay announcements. Anyway, this change went into effect on 12/17/2019. You can read the notice at this link.

Starting today, new FedEx 2Day and Home Delivery rates are lower for eBay sellers than they were in 2019. For the first time, FedEx has lowered its 2Day and Home Delivery rates. FedEx 2Day delivery, available in all states except Alaska and Hawaii, is a fast, cost-effective alternative to other shipping services and now offers flat rate pricing including surcharges. The reduced 2Day rates apply to FedEx Pak, Envelope, and packages weighing 1-10 lbs. Free Pak and Envelope supplies can be obtained at FedEx stores nationwide, and convenient package drop off is available at over 50,000 FedEx OnSite and retail locations, including Walgreens, Dollar General, and more. “

Here’s a 2 pound box going from WA to GA, which USPS Priority used to be the cheapest, but now Ground is the cheapest.

Interesting the 3 pound box is the same price as the 2 pound box for Ground at $8.25.

I can tell you at 4 pounds, Ground is $11.31 and 2-Day is $12.06 (at this weight, may as well pick 2-Day for better customer service. The odd thing is that at 10 pounds, 2-Day is cheaper at $15.73 vs $16.59 for Ground!!!

I’ve never seen shipping prices so low before, especially from Fedex. Guess that Amazon contract hurt them badly and they’re trying to gain Ebay business these days. Of course box size matters so you’ll have to play around with that. Also, this gets billed to your Ebay account and sometimes Fedex will re-weigh or re-size your package and surprise you with a higher shipping cost than what you saw on Ebay, so watch out for that.

I’m going to have to change some of my listings over from USPS Priority to Ground now due to these lower rates.
