A few months ago, Discover converted my IT card to the Miles card due to inactivity. When they moved it over, I had about $150 or so in cashback. It then converted to “miles.” I then called to convert the card back to the IT card, and sure enough, my $150 was back there for me to cash out into gift cards. I was slightly worried about the 2 conversions, but everything worked out fine.
I then got to thinking – what if when the Miles card sends you your double cashback at the end of the year – instead of just cashing it out and closing the card, you convert it to the IT card. This way, you can juice up your cashback by at least 10%. I asked around and no one seems to have tested this yet, so if you have let me know. Else, I’m going to do it when my double cashback ends in a few weeks and I try this out.
