There’s ALWAYS one or two upset people on here when I post dead deals thinking I shouldn’t post it just in case it comes back. How did that work out for Alliant paying out for giftcards.com? Anyway, the unicorn has finally died and now we can all cancel our Alliant cards. You see, ever since the Alliant card got released, if you added it to your Google Wallet (that was the name back then,) you have been able to make a peer to peer payment without fees (GW seeing the card as debit.) On top of that, Alliant would pay out the 3% or 2.5% since it posted as a purchase. This lasted for YEARS. It was never blogged about, but it was a closely guarded secret since we all feared volume would kill it. Your limit was your CL and how quickly your CL opened up after payments. If you had a 10K CL, you could have made about 12 x $2500 payments a month = 30K for a cashback of about ~$750-$900.
Well it seems as of mid-March 2019, Alliant finally wised up and stopped paying cashback for Google Wallet/Pay transactions. I haven’t decided whether to cancel the card yet or not, but it definitely will be sock-drawered for a while…RIP.
