A reader suggested I buy a Meural art frame last year just because, why not? I never liked the old school digital frames because they were very pixel-y, but he assured me the Meural was legit. I think I got a used one from Adorama, but when it arrived, it was basically in new condition. I tried to mount it on my drywall, but I did a terrible job because the heavy digital frame ruined the drywall and nail (most likely my fault.) I gave up and just put it on my kitchen buffet where it has been over the past year. You have 2 options to load pictures to the Meural – you can upload it yourself, but the last time I tried this, I had to do 1 by 1 and couldn’t multi select photos. This is the option you want if you wanted to display the photos you take. I wish it had the option to just accept like a Google Photos album or URL or ios album URL. Instead, I went ahead and paid the $39 a year membership fee to get new art pictures sent to the frame automatically. Option one is good because if you buy say a Meural for your parents, you can send them photos of your vacation to show on their Meural.
The frame also has wake and sleep functions as well as a timer so it’s not on overnight while you’re sleeping. The quality of the display exceeded my expectations. I still use it mainly for the art versus personal photos. One thing it doesn’t do right now is if you set the frame in portrait mode, it skips photos that are meant for landscape; I haven’t found this to be a big problem. Overall, do I recommend the frame? I think if you have the disposable income and like art or want to display your vacation photos, I think it’d be great. If you can hang it up and hide the power cable, even better. Every time someone has seen it, they’ve been impressed with it for the first few seconds; no one has said, “Oooh I want one myself.” That’s the verdict with the purchase – a nice to have, but not really necessary.
