Last year was the H&M Erdem collaboration. This year was the H&M Moschino collaboration. I was a bit more excited this year because Moschino is a bigger name than Erdem. Once again, I had to wake up at 5AM PST, but hey, money never sleeps. It’s a good thing I’m a blogger because I had forgotten what happened during last year’s drop. This year, once again, they were about 5-7 minutes late. Last year, the app loaded faster than the desktop. However, this year for me, my desktop loaded before the app. It was odd because I had some friends buy items as well, and they couldn’t access the web site even though I was busy picking out items.
What items to buy
Unlike my rookie mistake last year of buying men’s items (I am still trying to sell the shoes,) I went for women’s items this year – I bought a couple of purses, some dresses, some sweaters, etc. I figured the purses would be hot and since I was getting free shipping this year, I went ahead and bought the 3 purses in one order. I then went back to browse the others. All in all, I bought about 6 orders. With a 7 day return policy, I figure I could list them while they were in transit. If they didn’t sell within a week, I could just return.
I also made another rookie mistake this year of buying about $1200 of Raise H&M gift cards at 25% off at midnight. Well those lazy bums didn’t process the order until 6AM, which was way past the drop. I was able to pick up a few scraps of items over the next couple of days to use up the gift cards. I was hoping to return and rebuy with the gift cards in store once I got the items in, but not sure if they would let me do that.
Lessons Learned
Buy women’s accessories! Also, Raise may not process your gift cards in time, so I should have bought that during the day before. You had 7 days to return, so if you’re by an H&M store, this was a pretty risk free reselling opportunity.
