How I did on those Bob Weir New York tickets

I had written about my Bob Weir Seattle debacle a few weeks ago where I lost 75% or $1400.  Well, what’s worse than that?  Getting annihilated a second time.  Now before you go saying, “Hey you idiot, why would you do it again?”  It’s because the sale for both shows were on the same day, so I went “all in” on both shows.  I actually don’t regret going all in twice (hey, that’s what I did for Pink and that turned out well;) I just regret it was Bob Weir.  Kind of like doubling down on an 11 against a 10 and getting dealt a 2 as your 3rd card.

How bad was New York?  Well, I had learned my lesson for Seattle luckily and started my fire sale about a month before the show.  My last pair sold on 11/7, 12 days before the show, for a loss of 54%.  The bulk of my sales however were about 3-4 weeks out and those were only -30% to -40%.  My ONLY POSITIVE sale was for a gain of 11% back in late August.  I also had a TM sale for only -12% about a month out.  Interestingly enough, I had another pair for the same section and 3 rows closer sell on SH 3 days later at -44%.  So in this instance, TM saved me nearly 33%.

My total loss was -40% (-$2,200)on New York.  On a typical day, I’d be sad, but when I compare it to Seattle, I’m ecstatic (it’s all relative right?)

Lesson Learned – When things are looking bad, start your fire sale around a month out.

For shits and giggles, I checked listings on Sunday at 12:37AM and saw this on SH.  That $28.50 ticket would yield a loss of 67%.
