I’ll talk about how I did on her ticket flips tomorrow, but today, I wanted to review her concert. This is my fourth Taylor concert. I saw her at the Tacoma dome for her Speak Now tour I believe. That was when my buddy and I got floor seats and there was a moment where he swears she made eye contact with him (more on that later.) Then there was the Red tour that I was in Europe or something, and so had to drive up to Vancouver to see her with the wife (the wife wasn’t as fun as my buddy.) Then we saw her during 1989 at Centurylink stadium. That was when I got scammed on Craigslist. Thus, this was my fourth time seeing her in concert. Unlike the other 3 shows, I decided to NOT sit on the floor for this. Why? Because every…single..time, the little teenie bopper girls would stand on their chair to get a better view, and so my #oldman has to stand as well to see when all I want to do is sit and enjoy the show. That’s why I chose to pick front row 200 level seats (100 level seats were all bought up already.) For the most part, I loved the seat and view more than the floor seats.
As for the show itself, I thought it was just meh. I think the issue is that she doesn’t have as many hits on this current album, so there were 3-4 songs where my buddy and I looked at each other and said, “Skip” like it was on Spotify. I thought the “show” aspect was great; very high production value. I liked how everyone got a light up wristband that synced, which made the stadium pretty cool looking. However, due to not knowing some of the newer songs, I didn’t enjoy it as much as previous concerts.
By the way, here’s the video I took of her back during the first concert. See if you think she’s “making eyes” with my buddy who is standing next to me during the video (may want to turn down volume due to all the screaming girls) – https://www.dropbox.com/s/5nvm1gz3iredf68/1203745_10103445640365960_36877_n.mp4?dl=0
Came here for the miles, stay because of the Taylor Swift posts. 🙂
Honestly do enjoy the variety of stuff you put out Vinh.
Saw her at the Rose Bowl this past weekend and thoroughly enjoyed both the production aspect and performances, but I knew going into it that I needed to learn all the songs, even the ones I didn’t like or know as well.
What I got most from the concert though was a better understanding and appreciation of this album (which I admittedly didn’t really like at first – even leading up to the concert). It was such a huge contrast and departure from 1989 (and the tour), but really reflected her maturation as an artist and an individual. At the end of the concert, what I asked myself and my wife was: How would I feel if my little girl viewed Taylor as a role model? Answer: I’d be happy with it that choice.
Still “bumping” the album in my car and enjoying it a ton more more after seeing the concert.
Possibly the gayest post you have posted ever. The image of some gook dude rocking out with teen girls is justtoo much
