Introduction
Due to a bookkeeping error, I had totally forgotten I had some Pink Denver tickets in my Flash account (long story.) I only realized on 4/30 that I had 6 tickets for a concert on 5/8 that cost me $180 each ($1081 total.) I tried to list them on Stubhub, but Stubhub would only let me list UPS tickets for the event. I didn’t want to deal with having to list them as UPS but then change to Flashseats transfer later, so I tested out just re-selling the tickets back on the Flashseats platform. It was fairly easy!
Selling them
Once you log in to your Flashseats account, you’ll see this screen. Instead of the “Retract” button, you’ll see 2 options – SELL or TRANSFER. I chose SELL.
On the next screen, I chose my price. I listed the tickets at $225 to the buyer knowing Flashseats would take a 10% commission.
Bids come in
When I woke up the next morning, I got lots of emails from people sending me in bids for some of the tickets. One person bid 2 seats for $180. Another bid 2 at $200. And one person did buy 2 at $225 each. I thought that was pretty cool that you could see bids. This way, if someone came close to your asking price, you could just sell it.
Worst Case Scenario
After I sold the first pair for $405 net, I was happy. Throughout the next day, I got lots of offers again for 2 seats or 4 seats. Eventually, someone went and bought 3 of the 4 seats for $225 each. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!? This meant I have a single seat left over to sell! Over the next 24 hours, I did get 1 bid for $100 for that single seat. Hours later, the person retracted the bid. I still have 4 days to sell the last ticket, and I’m confident I’ll be able to sell it. For how much, I’m not really sure. I looked around the Flashseats site and don’t see where or how I can restrict it to not leave me with a single seat like TM or SH has.
Lessons Learned
I was actually surprised at how much ‘action’ I got from Flashseats. I would have never even thought to look there to BUY tickets myself. I think if you have the option, you should consider using them to sell your tickets (assuming you can find the option to not leave you with a single seat.)
When you’re listing your tickets, you’ll see options as to how you’d like (or not) your tickets split up. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/3de918c63f01992fa1e4e0cca07935052d4a6d482ba4109020bacc2b009403bd.jpg
Dangit, I must have went too fast and just glanced over it then. Thanks for the heads up.
