A mini app-o-rama for my wife July 2016

Introduction

As I’ve said in the past, I go pretty light when it comes to my wife’s app-o-ramas.  The last one was back in March 2016 where she went 3 out of 5 (3 out of 3 if you exclude the Chase apps.)

Citi Hilton Reserve – Approved instantly

I got this card so we can redeem it for 2 nights in the Seychelles.  That’s it.  That’s all this card is good for.  I’ve spent the $2500 to get the 2 night certificates already.  I’ll charge the $10K to get the free night and sock drawer the card.

US Bank Flexperks – Approved with letter in mail

I decided to get this card for the travel rewards.  I didn’t WANT this card; I just ran out of options.

Capital One Spark – Approved with letter in email

I actually applied for both the Spark and Spark Miles back to back.  The Miles application was rejected due to it being a duplicate, similar to my app-o-rama.  We later got the Spark in the mail.  I’ve met the min spend on it already.  With my Spark and Citi DC, I don’t see myself putting too much spend on it since we have the CL bandwidth on my 2 cards already.  Can’t say no to a free $500.

Conclusion

I didn’t do any Barclays this go-round (banned) or any Chase (after the 2 rejections last time, I’ll let this one rest.)  I didn’t do any AMEX either since she already has 5 AMEX credit cards, and I didn’t see any charge cards that I wanted to get.  I wanted to get a Discover Miles, but she hasn’t hit a full year since last applying for the It.  I thought about maybe doing a Comenity VX, but I wanted to lay low for a while before getting some BoA cards in a couple of months here.

  1. I don’t typcially get approved for Capital One personal card due to recent inquiries. Are they somewhat lenient for business cards?

    1. I haven’t heard of too many ppl being shut down for the Biz cards. I do know some ppl IRL who got shut down for personal. I would tell u to try it, but it’s up to you if the 3 hit risk is worth it.
