Introduction
Another quarter, another SEARS PLATINUM VIP benefit. There was really only 1 candidate this quarter – it’s this bad boy. Notice how Sears even told me I made an excellent choice?
Sears receipt:
As you can see, Sears’ math is funny. 75% of $300 should be $225, but they’re giving me back $253 in points. The reason for that is because the security system is actually giving me $30 back in points by itself, so $225 + $30 = $255 give or take. Notice I bought the $299 model instead of the $279 model since the $299 one comes with the door/window sensor.
Math
I plan on eBaying this bad boy by the way. The rough math:
- Piper -$328 (stupid tax)
- + $253 in SYYR points (let’s assume I squeeze out the full 100% on SYYR)
- + $200 on eBay (probably $250 gross then minus fees/shipping)
- 6X Alaska portal yesterday (if I were you, wait for a portal hike; the prices on these won’t fall that fast…hopefully)
Net – make about $125 but really $150 since those Sears GCs were bought with a 10% discount. PLUS 1,800 AS miles as cherry on top
Conclusion
I should have VIP Platinum for rest of year, but not sure if I’ll quality for 2017 since I haven’t browsed Sears in a long time.
