Introduction
All you old school MS’ers, you know what this is. Once upon a time, you could buy these variable cards up to $500 at Office Depot with your Ink and for a small 2-3 day window, be able to load them to your Bluebird at Walmart. Even when that ended, all you HHs knew what to do with the card. I won’t spell it out any further but that ship has mostly sailed.
My story
Anyway about a year ago, yes, literally a year ago, I had bought $3K of these at OD using my Ink (I believe you can still today.) I was going to convert these to ____ gift cards, but they wouldn’t accept the cards due to an address verification issue. I then thought about converting them in store to VGC but got lazy…like REALLY LAZY.
Eventually I got so lazy that I decided to call the number on the back of the card to ask for a refund. Well, the steps required you to cut the cards in half and mail them in. I was a bit uncomfortable with doing that because what if it got lost in the mail? So, I put it off for an ENTIRE YEAR. So when 2016 rolled around and my New Year’s resolution was to get more organized, I decided to go in store and to convert them to VGC. However, the cards got declined.
I called up HIGC and apparently they suspended the cards when I opened the case. I then reopened the case, finally cut up my cards, made a lot of copies of the cards, mailed it in, and whatdoyouknow, within a month, they mailed me a $3,000 check.
How to get a refund
Call 877.770.6416. Ask them for a refund on the cards. They will ask you to mail in:
- a copy of the receipt
- the cards cut in half
- a signed letter
Mailed to:
INCOMM INC
PO BOX 826
FORTSON, GA 31808
The signed letter should have:
- Full Name
- Address
- Reason why refund
- Ref ticket #
- Card numbers
The reason I put down was that the store wouldn’t accept multiple cards for a large purchase.
Conclusion
This is NOT a scalable MS scheme, but if you need a quick 1 shot to meet min spend, especially in a 5X category, here you go. Just make sure you keep very good records and mail it in with delivery confirmation (maybe even signature confirmation if you are that nervous.)
