Time to open new Visa Checkout accounts?

Introduction

If you were sleeping like I was on Sunday morning, you may have missed out on that Visa checkout offer of $20 off $20 at Bestbuy.com.  See the Slickdeals thread here that started it all.  By the time I tried it out at ~10:00AM PST, the offer was giving me errors.  LUCKILY, I kept the landing page up on my computer.  This turned out to be a very lucky move on my part.

Deal started working again

I don’t know the exact time when it started working again, but I tried it at 2:00PM PST, and I got it to go through.  SCORE!  I then tried to open a new private window and got an error page.  So that was no bueno.  The odd thing about the landing page was that when you successfully redeemed it, it brought you back to the landing page.  So I of course then tried to click through again, but this time selecting a different Visa card that I had saved.  It emailed me the same $20 GC code.  I then tried to register a new account, and got an error on the very last screen.  Not one to give up, I opened up a new incognito window, was able to create a new account with a new Visa card just fine.  I then went back to the offer’s landing page, clicked on it, entered in my new account info, and they emailed me a new code.  EUREKA!  Before you accuse me of killing the deal, know that the deal was already dead for anyone who didn’t have the landing page already loaded on their computer.

Future Visa Checkout offers

I’m sure some of you got the NFL $25 off $25 codes last week.  And I’m sure some of you got the Chase Freedom Visa offer on Monday.  The point is, it seems like it’s advantageous to have multiple Visa checkout accounts; similar to having multiple Twitter accounts for all your AMEX cards.  I don’t know about creating multiple accounts for the same Visa card though; I’ll let you figure that out and where you want to draw the line.
