My wife hadn’t applied for any credit cards since mid Christmas, so she was long overdue for a mini app-o-rama. Here’s what happened:
Chase Sapphire – DENIED IN LETTER
Due to Chase’s new 5 cards in 2 years rule, while she hadn’t applied for anything in a while, she did have 7 cards in 2 years. Sure enough, she eventually got the rejection letter
Bank of America Alaska Visa – INSTANT APPROVAL
This was for the 25K + $100 offer. I guess I could have applied for a 2nd one, but I didn’t.
Citi ATT More – DENIED IN LETTER
I wanted to get it for the iPhone 6S, but shockingly I got denied in a letter weeks later. They denied me for ‘too many accounts open.’ Now I wonder if it’s due to all the AMEX AU’s I added. I didn’t bother to call or write the Executive Office. I’ve also heard from ther people of recent Citi denials (as of around mid-August.) I worry that Citi is tightenting up on approving new applications.
American Express Business SPG – INSTANT APPROVAL
My wife actually has never had the Biz SPG version so of course I got her the 30K offer.
American Express Simply Cash – APPROVAL AFTER A WEEK
I had read that if you apply for 2 AMEX credit cards (not charge cards) in the same day, you’ll only get 1 approved. The other card will be looked at a week later and SHOULD use the same hard pull. I actually don’t monitor my wife’s CR so not sure if it did use the same HP. Anyway, I got this card for the a) $250 signup bonus, b) NO ANNUAL FEE, c) and 5% at office supply stores up to 25K.
Chase Hyatt Visa – APPROVED AFTER 3.5 WEEKS
After I had applied for those 5 cards, I figured I wouldn’t get the Sapphire, so I may as well apply for the Hyatt Visa too in hopes they’d use the same pull. Sure enough, my application went into pending. Then I didn’t hear anything for 3.5 weeks. I had given up on it until suddenly one day, I got an email from Chase that my Hyatt card is on the way. Then a week later, I learned that they reallocated 2 credit lines to give her an uncesssarily whopping 33K CL. I plan on using this card for 2 nights at the Park Hyatt Sydney later this year.
Discover It Card – INSTANT APPROVAL
This was actually a month later after the $10K Apple Pay promo was announced. My wife never had a Discover card, and while I was worried about the recent hits on her CR, I figured this was worth the risk. Luckily, she was instantly approved for a 12K CL.
I got rejected about a month ago. Called recon line twice for CSP but emailed the executive office. Got a call a day later with acceptance
You got accepted for CSP or a Citi card? I wasn’t aware there was an email for a Chase exec office. Have it handy?
Chase Sapphire. Probably best if I private msg it
