I hear from people quite often of how they missed out on XYZ deal just because they never got around to doing it. Deals like these:
- Opening a US Bank Buxx card
- The TD Buxx card
- When Kroger was giving out fuel points for VGC
- When Walmart was accepting the HIGC as debit
- Opening Fidelity accounts and moving money around
- AGC when they were 4X on the Barclays Arrival
- MINT coins (nix that. Everyone did that if they were in the Hobby at the time)
I’m sure there are more deals; I’m just drawing a blank right now. The point is, take it from someone who’s been doing this for years, the early bird really does get the worm in the MS game. By the time I started to do American Express gift cards, the Barclays 4X gravy train had already ended. I kicked myself for not learning and doing it earlier. I’m also mad that I procrastinated in opening us a US Bank Buxx card for my parents.
The point of this post isn’t to reminisce about missed opportunities. The point of this post is to tell you that you should stop procrastinating about MS opportunities. Still haven’t gotten a NW Buxx card yet? Well, maybe it’s time to sign up for one before it goes extinct like the USBuxx card. Still don’t know what the hoopla is about these American Express gift cards? Well, maybe it’s time to get one and see what the fuss is all about. Still haven’t tried Plastiq yet? Well, maybe you should get on it before the 1.99% rate is over. Or maybe you don’t want $1,000 because you’ve been putting off doing this bad boy? Look, I realize everyone is busy with their lives and can’t take advantage of every $10 AMEX offer here and there, but when you have a $1,000 checking account offer staring you in the face, it’s time to get off you ass (yours truly included.)
no BoA here, thumbed tho!
Any pointers on using Plastiq for anything other than paying mortgage? I don’t have a mortgage. Is anyone managing to use it to pay anything else that scales? I heard they require documentation if you try to pay someone for services.
No, I only use it for mortgage and car loan.
Get on it. Signed up both myself and my wife for that $1000 bucks
Was it easy to get w/o an actual flyer?
CTP posted the actual flyer that you can print and bring 🙂
No flyer. My banker knew about it and hook me up with a business analyst. It helped that we have accounts with BoA already. They just pulled your info from their system and ask a couple questions about your business. Key is to get hook up with a business analyst.
Nice – I’ve been kicking around an idea for a post on procrastination and stubbornness for a little while, just haven’t gotten around to it yet.
