Introduction
We booked 4 nights here under 2 reservations to take advantage of the Club Carlson Visa ‘last night free award’ deal that has already ended. It was only 50K CC points or $250 per night. Even without the free night benefit, I was getting 0.5c of value per CC. With the free night, I got a whole 1c of value, which is tremendous for CC. Upon checkin, we were upgraded due to my wife’s lowly Gold status from the credit card to a nice ‘business room.’ Pictures below. We were supposed to be downgraded the last 2 nights since they didn’t “link” the reservation, but Twitter came to the rescue.
Room
As you can see, the room was pretty nice with a great view. Pics below.
Breakfast
We had the breakfast buffet one morning. I think it cost around $15 USD per perseon. I thought that was a fair price. However, since both my wife and I barely ate, we realized we were better off just eating outside of the hotel. On subsequent breakfasts, we bought cold sandwiches from the supermarket at the waterfront the night before. Sorry, no pics of the breakfast spread, but it was MASSIVE and they have an omelette station
Restaurant
The restaurant has a gorgeous view, but we never ate or drank there. You can walk out to the pier and get a view of the hotel from the back, which is below.
Transportation to the Waterfront
The hotel provides a free hourly shuttle to the waterfront shopping area, which is a massive mall with lots of restaurants (even has a Ferris wheel.) We used this quite often. It’s less than a 10 minute ride away, and quite frankly, we could have walked it if the shuttle wasn’t there.
Conclusion
Was this the best hotel in Cape Town? Probably not. Was this the best points value in Cape Town? I THINK SO. This is one of the more expensive Club Carlson hotels, so redeeming it here is a great value.
