I haven’t seen this covered in the blogsyet, and even the DoC hasn’t written about it. And if it’s not on DoC, then has it really happened?
I’m not sure when AMEX made this change, but as of a couple of months ago, when you added a new authorized user on a BUSINESS AMEX card, you needed to enter in the ssn and dob when applying for the AU. Last week, when I was trying to add more cards to my “churn team,” it seems all I needed to enter in was the first and last name. Then when I got the card in the mail, I had to activate over the phone and that was when I entered in my SSN and DOB. I haven’t tested activating it online though. This makes more sense because if you were a small business, you may not have your employee’s ssn and dob handy. It just makes more sense to have the employee enter it in during activation.
This DOES NOT change the personal card process where you do have to enter ssn and dob upon application.
Let’s get straight to the rest of the Q&A:
Why should you care?
Can I add myself as an authorized user?
What if my employee types in the wrong ssn or dob during activation?
How many authorized users can I have?
I’ll make sure to get a bunch of fake AU’s, so I, too, can easily clear $1000 a month while not being in the country.
Seriously though, the hobby is rife with people so unethical, it makes Dick Cheaney look like a saint. Kudos for making it work for ya’ll though.
I don’t judge people in this hobby. Everyone has their own ethical lines.
