There are already a ton of miles and points blogs out there. So why another one? Let me tell you my story. I’ve been a frugal guy most of my life. I love finding deals and I love saving and making money. I also love reselling stuff for money too. I sold my first item on Ebay on November 19, 2001. Unfortunately, I don’t know what that was. Apparently, I’ve sold $197,000 worth of stuff on Ebay in these 13+ years. I’ve sold everything from toothbrushes to luggage to iPads to Crate & Barrel coupons. I also still have a perfect record in those 13 years although I did have 2 negative feedback removed due to unreasonable buyers (one lady claimed a cell phone was dinged although I had pictures of an undamaged phone 2 days earlier and the other lady threatened negative feedback if I didn’t refund her money, which I just learned recently is called ‘feedback extortion’ and is against Ebay’s rules.)
Sorry, let’s get back to the point. Anyway, I have been credit card ‘churning’ (opening the same credit card over and over to get the bonus points) for almost 10 years now. While I missed the pudding cups deal, I did take part in the MINT coins deal. I also didn’t get really serious with the miles and points game until 3 years ago when I was planning my honeymoon to Bora Bora. Now the ‘miles and points’ game has been my hobby ever since. Like I said before, there are already tones of blogs out there that talks about credit cards, how to book award trips, how to manufacture miles, and even how to resell items for miles. What I think is missing though is a blog that follows HOW people actually take advantage of those offers and accumulate those millions of miles and points. Sure it’s great to know that there is an AMEX offer for $10 off $50 at Office Depot. Now what can I really do with that offer? And that’s where my blog comes in. I’ll start to document starting on Jan 1, 2015 to the end of 2015 how many miles and points I’ve accumulated over the year. For the next 2 weeks, I’ll try to outline the tools I have available to me so you can follow along and join in. Hope you’ll join me for the ride by subscribing to my blog.
I’ve debated doing something like this for car repair but there are so many YouTube videos + how-to articles online nowadays that I think it covers most people’s needs. Even Thinh recently learned to do his brake pads solo!
Man, I need to learn to do my brakes too.
Gerry, I think if you can upload car repair videos to Youtube and get enough traction, you may be able to make money on the views. The problem is that there are so many types of cars out there that it’s almost random. However, the good thing for you is that you’re a stud. If I were you, I’d repair your cars topless. That’s your angle to bring in female viewers who don’t even care about fixing cars. Go make a video and upload it to Youtube and see what happens.
