AMEX Offers – Thousands of dollars a year in savings

I’m sure everyone has an AMEX card.  So let’s say you have an AMEX card.  And your probably don’t have a Twitter account.  So go sign up for a twitter.com account.  It’ll take 2 minutes.  Seriously.  Enter in your email address, come up with a username and password.  Then uncheck those 20 people that Twitter wants you to follow.  Skip finding all of your contacts.  Once you are into Twitter, go back to your email and click on the email confirming your email address.  Now open a new tab and go here – https://sync.americanexpress.com/Twitter/Index. You should already be signed into Twitter.  Now choose the 2nd option to enter your card manually.  Enter in your name, email, and card number.  That’s it.  Your card is now registered for AMEX Synch offers.  Now that you’re back in Twitter, go ahead and tweet #AmexWalmart.  In less than a minute, you’ll see a notification from Twitter confirming your registration for the #AmexWalmart offer of $5 off $15.  This only works online by the way.  Don’t be stupid like me and go into Walmart and buy 5 x $15 gift cards for no damn reason.

So now that you have that saved, what do you do?   Well, now go out to Walmart.com and buy a $15 physical gift card.  As soon as you place the order, you’ll get an email from Amex saying, “Congrats!  You just used your AMEX offer!”  In a couple of days, you’ll see the $15 charge on your AMEX and a $5 credit.  And there you go, you just made your first successful AMEX offer.  Other working offers right now are #amexnewegg ($25 off $200) and #amexpetsmart ($5 off $25).  There are other AMEX offers like the Sur la Table one.

So how do you scale up – well, add authorized users to your AMEX card like your significant other, your kids, your parents, etc.  You will need to know their SSN if you do it online.  You can also sign up your Bluebird and Serve accounts as well as their subaccounts (read FM’s post).  This is how I’m up to 40 AMEX cards, so the savings will really add up.

Btw, if you want to scale up the Walmart synch offer, I found out that if you try to buy too many gift cards using a new credit card number, after the 3rd or 4th one, Walmart will reject your order saying there was a credit card problem.  The way to get around this is to do an incognito window and checking out as a guest.  I do it once in the morning and once at night so they don’t catch on.  I’ve done about 20 and have 20 more to go.  This is a slow but rewarding play (assuming you actually shop at Walmart.)
