How I did on those Captain Marvel Vans shoes

My shoe guy told me last summer about the Vans x Marvel collaboration that had Captain Marvel shoes. There were some Captain America and Deadpool shoes, but he told me to get the Captain Marvel ones because the movie was coming out “next year.” So this was going to be a looong float. Anyway, I bit.

I bought about 20 pairs at a cost of $75 all in per shoe. This was mid June 2018. Then I kept them in my basement and waited…. even when the Captain Marvel movie came out, the shoes still weren’t selling. EVENTUALLY, Avengers End Game came out and BOOM! I’ve sold 5 pairs over the last week at a take home price of around $135 each (an 80% ROI). I’m going to raise the price on the rest of them since a) the shoes are discontinued and b) I seem to own the market since no one else was crazy enough to hold these shoes for 8 months.

Would I do this again? Probably not. While it was nice to earn 80% ROI in 9 months, the big issue is the space that the 20 pairs of shoes took up! Plus for the longest time, I thought I was sitting on 20 pairs of bricks. Also why I’ve stopped reselling shoes.
