A year of crossfit

I finally hit my 1 year mark of crossfit.  I’m sure most of you thought that I would quit after 1 month or even after 6 months.  Heck, I didn’t even think I’d last this long either.  I’ve lost about 15 pounds in the past year, around 2 inches off my waist and gotten a lot stronger/faster.  I’m still going 4-5 times a week.  Still enjoy and look forward to going every day that I do go.  It’s not like a trudge that I used to feel when I just went to the gym.  I think the different workouts and the camaraderie with the other people motivate me to go.  Could I have gotten the same results by going to the gym?  Most likely not because I wouldn’t go that often.  Do I agree with everything that crossfit does?  Not really; I don’t really agree with having to do overhead squats after running.  As long as you don’t go too heavy and be careful, then hopefully you won’t get injured doing crossfit.  Where do I go from here?  Continue on with the workouts and dieting.   Who else started the journey with me?  What are your results so far?

  1. I started (restarted) the first of December 2017. The first time I did Crossfit, it didn’t stick as life happened. I had been thinking about going for several months and your post prodded me to do it. Since Dec, I’m was down 15 pounds and definitely a lot stronger and more fit. The camaraderie and coaches definitely keep me coming back. There’s no way I would have stayed motivated to work out 5X a week on my own. Last month, a basketball incident blew out my ACL. Turns out I needed microfracture as well, so into surgery I went. I lost another 5 lbs sitting on the sofa, I thought I would have gained for sure. Tomorrow will be 3 weeks from surgery and I was back into class today for the first time. I couldn’t wait to get back in. The coach put a nice little upper body metcon together for me. I can’t wait to deadlift again….
