Review – Le Meridien Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam

Introduction

I was here back in early January 2018.  I had used 7K points per night versus the $200 per night all in cost.

Getting to hotel

I had family pick me up, but I think a taxi will run you around 200,000 VND, which is about $10 (definitely cheaper on the way back to airport though.)

Checkin

I was Platinum at the time and upon checkin, I was taken up to the lounge on the top floor to check in.  I was not upgraded to a suite.  I looked on my phone in the room and didn’t see a suite available, so it may have just been sold out.  Even speaking Vietnamese got me nowhere.

Lounge

I actually didn’t try the breakfast just because I ate out every breakfast.  I did stop in for a snack a few times and had the passion fruit ice cream (a bit too tart.)

Wifi

It was fine; no big issues.

ATM

There is a bank ATM in front of the next building on the left once you exit the hotel.

Room

The room was fine; I think they restocked 2-4 bottles of water every day.

Conclusion

So here’s the thing.  While the room and the view and location is good if you’re a tourist; for me, I didn’t like the location AT ALL.  Every breakfast or dinner I went to was pretty far away, and since the hotel is on a main road, traffic at 5PM on a weekday is HORRENDOUS.  I mean, if you’re going to call an Uber, you’re better off finding a side street behind the hotel that a taxi can get to, else you could be waiting 15-30 minutes for a taxi.  That’s my only complaint about the hotel.
