How I did on those Tim McGraw Faith Hill tickets

Introduction

Back in early November 2017, this concert popped up.  I mean, I love that one Faith Hill song “Breathe” and all I know about Tim McGraw was that Taylor Swift wrote a song about him.  I didn’t even realize they were making music together.  I felt this concert should have happened 10-20 years ago?  I was VERY UNCERTAIN about these tickets.  I had put it at a 2 on the risk reward scale (out of 5,) but I figured if I could get good seats, they could be a 3.  That’s when my Viet gambling blood took over!!!

Buying tickets

I had initially bought the Seattle tickets.  Not just a pair, but the 8 ticket limit for $837 all in just because… go big or go home right?  After I bought Seattle, I figured let me check Los Angeles.  I had bought Seattle at around 11:10am and I only got lower bowl seats.  When I checked Los Angeles, I actually found 4 floor seats for $470 all in.  That was a bit disconcerning that I was able to find floor for Los Angeles AFTER Seattle (maybe it’s because I was trying to buy 8 vs 4.  Anyway, I was now $1300 poorer.

Free CDs!!!!

Similar to Pink, U2, Sam Smith, etc, I was able to get 12 copies of their new CD.  I was able to sell them on Ebay for about $3-4 take home each, so that helped a bit.  I mainly sold it to up my feedback rating more than the profit.

Selling tickets

I listed all 12 of them on SH.  I was able to sell 2 in Seattle for a $37 profit (18% ROI) after 6 weeks.  Then yesterday I sold the 4 floor LA seats for a profit of $248 (53% ROI.)

Lessons Learned

Even for flips with a low risk/reward, if you can get good seats (especially floor,) it’ll raise the risk reward 1-2 points.
