Review – Grand Hyatt Incheon

Introduction

Due to a medical emergency on my flight, I missed my 1 hour connection from Seoul to Phnom Penh.  Korean Air put my wife and I up at the Grand Hyatt Incheon as well as giving us both breakfast and lunch vouchers (our flight the next day was at 6PM, so no dinner vouchers.)  The hotel shuttle bus runs about every 15 minutes and the hotel is about 5 minutes from the aiport.  The hotel says they are the largest international Hyatt with over 1,000 rooms.  I was expecting a massive conference hotel like the Hyatt Regency Chicago, but it felt empty and cold.

Checkin

At checkin, I asked to use my club room upgrade, but was turned down saying the voucher was not a qualifying stay.  I even had the clerk add in my Hyatt number, but sure enough, I did not receive stay credit.

Wifi

The wifi was fine.  I believe you logged in via room number and name.

Breakfast

Breakfast was okay.  They had 3 main big stations.  One station was the American items like sausage, bacon, and potatoes.  They did have an omelette station as well.  Then there was the Asian station which had rice, soups, and noodles.  The last station was the bread and juices station.  Breakfast wasn’t horrible nor was it overwhelming enough for me to remember anything about it except the kimchi was pretty legit.

Conclusion

For a transit hotel, it was awesome.  However, there’s nothing to do there except for the casino next door named Paradise City (a 5 minute walk) and an E-mart (think of a blend between a mini-Walmart and Value City) that is also 5 minutes away.  Just hope you never have to stay here.
