TONIGHT! iPhone X Preorders!

Introduction

The day has arrived!  Tonight at midnight, the iPhone X preorders start.  I don’t think I’ve been more excited for a reselling play since probably the iPhone 6S.  Okay, I lied.  I get excited for every ticket and hype flip.  But this one means more since I do plan on keeping one of them!  Then again, I may sell it and just wait until prices drop to retail price.  I haven’t decided yet.  Anyway, here are some tips to pre-order tonight:

  • Apple will let you preorder 2 per account.  I plan on buying 2 and have my wife buy 2.
  • I plan on getting the 64GB variants.  Color doesn’t matter
  • IT WOULD BEHOOVE YOU TO MAKE SURE YOUR APPLE ACCOUNT IS UP TO DATE WITH THE CORRECT CREDIT CARD, ETC.  Every.  Second.  Counts.
  • Use the Store App instead of online
  • You should do a PRACTICE RUN and try to order an iPhone 8.
  • Check out with Apple Pay may be faster as well.
  • I plan on doing a store pickup in Oregon to save on the sales tax.  If I get it, then I’ll make a weekend out of it.  This is a slight gamble because if there is delay already on the phone for store pickup, I may have screwed myself up when I change it back to shipping.

Good luck!  Let me know how you do after midnight.

  1. prices on ebay seems a little weaker than I expected, but maybe they’ll rebound if they become really hard to find.

  2. I pre-ordered iPhone X from AT&T and had to enter my cellphone number. If I resale it, when iPhone X is activated will my current cellphone stop working?

  3. How are u guys able to do in store pick up on pre order? Says none available at stores. Weird i was able to preorder 4 Xs on my apple account.

      1. Got 3 from Apple, 3 from Best Buy, and 2 from AT&T – all scheduled for 11/3 arrival. Redeemed Citi AT&T Access more credit for one phone. I was fortunate to complete all orders within first 10 minutes. Should be a fun re-selling opportunity.

        1. I didn’t know people were still using the Citi AT&T to get phones. Did you do a product change recently? I PC’d to this card about 8 months ago but haven’t pulled the trigger on a phone.

          1. I didn’t product change. I met the spend requirement last year and just waited until last night to redeem the offer. I verified with multiple Citi CSRs that there is no time limit for redeeming the offer.

          2. That’s the same thing I did I redeemed my Citi att bonus last night for the iPhone X. I waited over a year like you.

  4. Ordered on two separate Apple IDs. I’ll see if I end up getting both orders. 2 each of space grey 64 & 256.At this point, 12:25 PDT delivery is at 11/17. Couldn’t get on through store app. Ordered through chrome browser on laptop. The only thing I wish I’d done differently is looked more into which carrier to order on. I thought I had to order on T-Mobile since that is what I use. However, after reading I think I can have T-Mobile unlock them.

  5. Well crap, I happen to be in NYC instead of back home in Portland. Probably not going to be up until 3 am tonight out here.

  6. I’m confused on how to preorder one tonight. It seems as if you have to log-in to your mobile account / phone number in order to purchase a phone? I hear that you can’t buy the unlocked ones (virgin mobile) online (for now), it’s in store only? Please help! I’m anxious for tonight and I’m stuck.

      1. Hey, thanks for the quick reply. Forgive me, but I can’t find the steps? Would this be going through the app instead? There isn’t going to be a SIM free version up for sale tonight. Any purchase option includes a credit check and requires going through a carrier.

  7. I hope to grab a few; i work down the street from the court house so anyone who wants to do biz with me will have to meet me in the courthouse area – that should get them through metal detectors (read: protection)

  8. I’m an Apple’s product hater and I just want to order for a friend who re-sells them.
I just read that “the pre-orders will NOT have SIM-Free carrier-unlocked and need to have a post-paid plan from one of the providers” to order. If this is the case, then I can’t order any as all of my family members have pre-paid plan. Is that your understanding too?

      1. Don’t you have to login to your verizon account and enter your verizon phone number in in order to place an order? Do you have a workaround / am I misunderstanding something?
