Oh put down your pitchforks! This was working great until it hit Reddit, and I have a minuscule audience compared to Reddit. This was found by a reader who shared it privately among a group of us about 6 months ago. In fact, it was reported on Reddit about 6 months ago here. Your limitation was the Venmo rule of only letting you add 6 cards per 6 months. I had liquidated a few remaining AGC’s from back when AGC was paying out for portals (yeah, I still had laying around.) Never really scaled it much. I know some people were buying the $3K AGC with the AO so they can get some free spend in. It was great because you couldn’t use an SPG card on Venmo due to the 3%, but for some reason, Venmo wasn’t charging a fee for using AGC’s. Very odd indeed. Well it seems it has died according to this Reddit thread.
A reader called up AMEX to see why the cards weren’t working, and this is what he was told, “You won’t be able to use your Amex GC at Venmo any more. This is a recent change.”

I dont know. I went to Simon Today and they refused to sell me AGC’s at the mall b/c the system was down.

Either spend it down or use it to buy a VGC at a place that takes swipes and DGAF about checking the card. Good luck.
You can always paypal someone the $ but it would cost you a pretty penny. An option if you need the funds in a hurry.

I assume it’s dead when the AMEX rep specifically calls out Venmo w/o it being brought up by the caller.
