TREAT YO SELF with that AMEX Ebags offer

Introduction

I’m sure many of you still have the Ebags $10 off $50 AMEX Offer collecting dust in your accounts.  If you didn’t need any socks or luggage, here’s an item that you can buy – the Bose QC35 Noise Cancelling Wireless Headphones.  YES, Ebags sells Bose headphones.  It was a shocker to me too when a reader recommended it to me.  By the way, I was NOT in the market for new headphones, but I love deals, so I eventually bit on the deal.

Deal

First off, you need to buy 7 $50 gift cards.  Then I don’t know… magically combine them into a single $350 gift card.  This brings your cost down to $280 so far.  Then wait for a portal 20X or 20% at Ebags since you really weren’t in a rush to buy them anyway, right?  Then you’ll get this back:

I prefer 20X since I value those 7K AS miles around $100 vs a 20% cashback would only net you $70.   Total cost – $170 or $210.

But is it any good?

For reference, I was upgrading from these Sol wireless headphones.  The major gripe I had with the Sol headphones was that it’d hurt my ears after an hour of use because the ear muffs would push up against my ears due to their small size.  The Bose headphones are so big that it covers my entire ear and rests against my head.  Thus, it’s VERY COMFORTABLE.  But that’s the drawback – it’s also VERY BIG so if you were looking for small headphones, go elsewhere.  I’m also no audiophile, so can’t speak if the “bass is deep” or anything like that.  I just know it sounds good.  As for the noise-cancelling feature, I think it drowns things out pretty well.  If you’ve used the Bose headphones on any first class seat, think of those but bigger around the ear and better.

Conclusion

Did I really NEED these?  NO!  But I used them to replace my old headphones which was giving me pain, and I also plan on bringing these on domestic plane rides from now on.  Since I also got them for ~50% off, that’s what made me pull the trigger!  Go treat yo self!

  1. You’d need to buy physical gift cards? Frequentmiler lab shows egift card not paying out in Alaska portal. Also DP chatted with ebags rep and was told you can combine gift cards by emailing info@ebags.com or by providing the gift card info to the chat rep.

  2. An alternative option is to purchase it from verizon wireless if you have the AMEX verizon offer and don’t use that to pay bills.

  3. Geez I just convinced myself last week not to spend money on this and now I have to reconsider again. Thanks Vinh.

  4. My offer says “Limit 1 statement credit(s) per American Express® Card across all American Express offer channels.” This is probably a AMEX offers beginner mistake, but how do you repeat this 7x$50 GC? As I understand, you can only add this offer once across all cards, and even if you somehow had 7 different accounts w/ amex, you shouldn’t be able to add the offer to all cards.
