Traveling Pants continued

After the reader comments last Saturday, I went to Banana Republic and tried on their traveler jeans.  First off, I had a feeling beforehand that not all colors would feel the same, but yet when I asked the sales rep about it, the teenager told me they’d all fit and feel the same.  They did NOT.  I tried on the dark blue, a gray, and the above light gray pair.  The dark blue was the most stiff and the light gray was definitely the softest among the batch.  Ultimately, I did not buy them.  The reason for that is because a) I already have a soft pair of jeans, b) they weren’t as comfortable as the North Face pants, and c) I would have liked some zippers.

So I went home and put on the TNF pair of pants again and nodded my head.  Yup, these are the best traveling pants that I’ve tried so far.

Misc news

  • Wife had to call again to get her 5K SPG points actually deposited into her SPG account.
  • I called to get 10K added to my SPG Business card that I just recently got again. Btw the 25K points posted already.

  1. hey sorry the BR pants didn’t work out. They definitely have QC issues; I’ll buy two pairs of pants, exact same size and style but different color and they’ll fit differently. The thing is: the credit card, man. They’ve been sending me ridiculous offers every month, so i basically have no choice but to shop there.

    1. Haha no worries. I did like the gray pants and may buy them if they have a sale down the road. I need to get that cc too. I hear the offers are nuts.

      1. yeah i mean… just to give you some idea, in the past three months i will have cleared about $180 in BR cash with like $2k in (anywhere) spending + X number of (anywhere) transactions. I could scale it up to if I was more motivated. Problem is I’m not a fan of BR suiting aka pricier stuff. Now if the Brooks Bros card paid out like that. !!!

  2. Did the SPG points actually hit your wife’s account? It’s been nearly 3 weeks since I called and still have not received the promised points. And for another matter a supervisor promised “compensation” and a phone call. It has been over a week and I have received neither. This was for my recently closed BGR card where they held my $175 AF ransom for over 2 weeks. I still haven’t received a check for that either.

    1. No not yet. My annoyance level is like a 3 right now. Once it hits a 7, I’ll call back to talk to a supervisor. They should have it on record, so I’m not too concerned. Maybe my irritation will get me more points.

      1. Make sure you call before the 35k expires which is the 31st from what people are saying, though I don’t know if that’s just for affiliate links or the public offer.

        1. Ken, so it looks like the pts hit my wife’s SPG account on 3/22, so it seemed to take a while to post and they must have backdated it.

          1. Wow, that took forever. They must’ve been swamped with people calling to match. Better late than never!

          2. Nope. False alarm. That 5K pts was from a referral. Guess I’ll have to call back and ask for it then.

      2. I called again today and the first line rep said that she could see the 5k points without me even asking about them, but that the supervisor earlier didn’t put them in the queue which isn’t automatic. She said she put them in the queue and I’ll have them in 2-3 days.

So if your wife doesn’t have them yet it might be best to call and ask if they’re in the queue yet. Even the first line rep was able to fix it, so I didn’t have to talk to a supervisor.
