Don’t forget to tip your Target waitress…eh cashier

I was loading my Redbird the other day at Target.  I had only met this cashier maybe 2-3 times earlier.  As I was done with my 1st 1K load, she asks, “Is that it?  Usually you do 2…”  I laughed and told her, “Oh, I do want to load a 2nd $1,000.”  As we were loading my 2nd card, she tells me, “Oh, don’t forget to fill out our survey.  If you mention my name, I’ll get a free drink.”  Amused by this, I looked around and saw a Starbucks inside the Target and asked, “At Starbucks or a vending machine?”  She goes, “At the Starbucks.”  Well then, how could I resist spending 2 minutes out of my life filing out a survey so this nice and friendly cashier can get a free Starbucks?

The reason why I bring this up is that the Walmart near my work has been going back and forth on whether they accept prepaid debit cards for Bluebird/Serve loads and money order purchases.  I’ve always been nice and friendly to this one cashier, and she lets me use them just fine.  However, I have other friends and coworkers who will literally go in right after me, and she will tell them, “Sorry, we don’t take prepaid debit cards.”  So moral of this story – be nice and friendly to the cashiers you see most often, and if it’s at Target, fill out the 2 minute survey on your Redbird receipt, mention their name and give them a free Starbucks drink.

  1. I <3 this article. I was just chatting with my MSing friend about our favorite Target guest services CSR and how we should buy him a drink or bring him cookies. 🙂 I didn't know they get a free drink from the survey though!! I'm definitely going to fill it out! He's never asked me to fill out the survey and my Target doesn't have a Starbucks, so I wonder if maybe it's just a perk for your Target…I'll ask next time. 😀

    1. I thought about you after your last tweet about your Target CSR moving on. I’m not sure what they get if there are no Starbucks, but let’s hope it’s a vending machine drink or something. If it’s not something tangible, I’m sure it looks good on their record.
