March 2015 Points Recap

Well, my Wells Fargo 5% card expired in the 1st week of March.  Of course that didn’t stop me from hitting it hard that final week.  What’s my new go-to manufactured spend method?  Buying AGC’s using a high cashback card.  I found one that gives me 3% on spend (not the Discover Miles card) + 1.5% portal for buying AGC, so that gets me to 4.5% gross, which is pretty close to the WF card.  If and when the portals increase the payout to 2%, then it’ll be just like having the WF card again except without all the fraud alerts.

I racked up nearly 165,000 airline points in March all due to portal points; almost entirely Sears-related.  There were some Dyson’s and Roomba’s scattered in there as well as well as Staples.  I racked up nearly 155,000 bank points from Buxxx loads and Staples purchases as well as a certain convenience store that sells Paypal cards.  I’ve also started to track AMEX Offers rebates I’ve gotten over the past year as well.  For next month, I’ll also track credit card signup bonuses too since I recently applied for nearly 10 credit cards.

This month has started off strong again with Sears hitting 8X or 10X on certain portals.  I’ll be converting the last of my Serve cards to Redbird cards.  I’ve practically given up on the Walmart money order route, which will reduce my stress level.  At this point though, I’m going to focus more on shopping portals and cashback since I have more miles than I know what to do with.
